Accounting Coordinator

Position Summary:

Responsible overseeing the processes associated with processing of invoice payments and auditing of invoices. Responsible for the delivery of accurate, timely and efficient accounting services to the retail divisions. Settle warehouse vendor disputes and validate outcome. Role model and demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Balance selected general ledger accounts, make necessary journal entries timely, ability to use Business Objects effectively
  • Coordinate/ monitor workflow of the department
  • Assist manager on employee appraisals, department productivity, audit accuracy and provide feedback to Manager and clerks as needed
  • Provide oversight to adding Vendors to Closed Loop weekly and work with Electronic Data Interchange team on vendor issues
  • Provide oversight on Payable accounting research to resolve vendor issues
  • Develop relationships with the division’s controllers, vendors, buyers, category manager, and warehouses; follow up promptly to their request. Discuss any large or unexpected entries that would affect their accounts
  • Provide all internal/external customers high quality of customer service
  • Provide training, development and assistance to employees
  • Handle special project requests
  • Actively participate with implementing business improvements and express ideas to help identify/resolve inefficiencies in the department
  • Handle requests made by vendors, controllers, specialist or managers as quickly as possible
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position/Education Qualifications:

  • Strong accounting and General Ledger balancing skills required; experience preparing detail for internal/external auditors
  • Good working knowledge of Kroger Accounting Systems and Warehouse Inventory Control Systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Business Objects reports
  • Ability to become the department subject matter expert
  • Possess strong analytical and math skills, be detail oriented and accurate on a consistent basis
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills,
  • Demonstrate sound business judgment and the ability to work successfully with all levels of associates, backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major changes; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing good working relationships
  • Ability to take prompt action to accomplish objectives; being proactive and following up to ensure completion
  • Self-Starter while managing one’s time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
  • Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition (such as time pressure or job ambiguity); handling stress in a manner that is acceptable to others and to the organization
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high change environment by being highly organized and proficient at multi-tasking
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality of files, conversations and documents
