Seafood Department Manager

Position Summary:

Plan, organize, train and direct Seafood Department associates; perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits. Role model and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety of others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Train, and schedule employees so that customers are consistently provided with prompt, courteous service.
  • Respond promptly, tactfully, calmly, courteously, and professionally to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents, and questions.
  • Keep department temperature logs accurately updated and maintained. Train and follow up with Seafood Department associates on temperature logs to guarantee accurately recorded temperatures.
  • Implement company programs and adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly in the area of maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
  • Use Computer Assisted Ordering to manage ordering appropriate quantities of merchandise and supplies, and insure proper accounting of product received and balance on hand.
  • Maintain eye-appealing displays, correct and legible pricing, cleanliness of product and shelves, product space allocation according to movement and keep floor, shelf, and areas clean and orderly.
  • Comply with Dillon and Health Department standards relating to sanitation.
  • Evaluate your department continually and make changes or recommendations to the store manager.
  • Demonstrate the ability and desire to promote, communicate and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports in a positive manner.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Willing to work weekends and holidays.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of seafood operation and experience working in a seafood department is required.
  • Understanding of all key components of department operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, safety, and food handling.
  • Must be able to work with various cleaning solutions, safely use all tools and equipment.
  • Able to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers and make decisions quickly.
  • Possess abilities and skills for effective production, merchandising, and customer services related to sale of products.

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Seafood work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity.
