Casual Pharmacist

Position Summary:

Assist the department manager in reaching sales & profit goals established for the department, & monitor all established quality assurance st&ards. Essential Job Functions:

  • Promote trust & respect among associates
  • Create an environment that allows customers to feel welcome, important & appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department & throughout the store
  • Communicate effectively both written & verbally, with customers & store personnel
  • Possess knowledge of the pharmaceutical products & supplies kept in the department to be competent making recommendations to patients & prescribers
  • Receive verbal RX orders & accurately reduce to writing in adherence with State & Federal laws & regulations
  • Interpret, fill/refill, label & bag prescription orders completely & accurately
  • Evaluate appropriateness of RX orders with consideration to patient safety, & legal requirements
  • Provide drug counseling with customers & prescribers
  • Be familiar with & third party billing & procedures, facilitate charge for customer
  • Maintain accurate records-including insurance-properly receive RX information from customer, properly & accurately deliver RX to customer, assist with over-the-counter medication recommendations
  • Make phone calls to prescribers & prescribers' office staff
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately & efficiently utilize RX computer system
  • Maintain accurate inventory, reconciliation & research of controlled substances in compliance with the record keeping of the controlled substance account
  • Actively promote proper immunizations to patients & provide them safely & effectively.
  • Engage in all clinical activities for which they have received appropriate training
  • Delegate monitoring & ordering supplies; properly stock incoming orders
  • Compare & check incoming orders
  • Assist with supervision & delegation of responsibilities to associates
  • File prescription orders & records in accordance with state & federal regulations & procedures
  • Help resolve conflicts & problems with customers & personnel in the absence of department manager
  • Run, review & interpret reports
  • Oversee administrative needs in the department in the absence of the department manager
  • Notify management of customer or employee accidents
  • Report all pharmacy incidents or miss-fills to store management & Sedgwick within the proper timeframes as presented in the Corporate Accuracy Policy
  • Report all safety risk, or issues, & illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud
  • Ability to st& for the entire shift & lift up to 25 lbs
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Possess a current Pharmacist license in the state where employment is sought, with no stipulations or Board ordered restrictions
  • Graduate of a US School of Pharmacy or have passed a foreign equivalency exam
  • Successfully passed the NAPLEX exam
  • Ability to work at various locations
  • Ability to travel independently
