Chinese Kitchen Manager Back- Up

Position Summary:

Assist department manager in planning, organizing, staffing, training and directing Chinese Kitchen associates; perform production and customer service functions; maximize store sales and profits safely and ethically in accordance with Dillon stores’ policies and procedures. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist the department manager in organizing work, training and scheduling associates so that customers are consistently provided with prompt, courteous service.
  • Respond appropriately to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents and questions.
  • Use Computer Assisted Ordering to manage ordering appropriate quantities of merchandise and supplies, and insure proper accounting of product received and balance on hand in the department manager’s absence.
  • Perform and direct others in pricing and displaying merchandise; maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity, quality and proper space allocation for merchandise.
  • Operate equipment (e.g., knives, slicing equipment) according to company guidelines.
  • Counsel associates in effective, productive merchandising techniques, customer services, product presentation and promotional activities.
  • Implement company programs and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide department managers with input on department budgets, goals and results.
  • Communicate and interact with associates and customers to create a positive impression.
  • Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift, including weekends.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, set priorities, present information in a professional manner and work with all levels of the organization
  • Strong personal initiative and follow through to completion
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and diplomacy when dealing with people
  • Friendly, approachable and outgoing demeanor with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to tactfully and calmly handle stressful situations and make a positive impression on associates and customers
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices and safety compliance
  • Demonstrated aptitude for managing people and organizing workloads

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Thorough knowledge of all phases of Chinese Kitchen operation and experience working in all areas of kitchen
  • Past work record reflects dependability and integrity
