Liquor Section Manager

Position Summary:

Manage and maximize the financial performance of the liquor department; participate in associate training; maintain excellence in customer service; and actively sell liquor and liquor related products. Fred Meyer also requires that all associates perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and state and federal laws.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Model "Customer 1st" behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
  • Maintain compliance with corporate policies/divisional standards including merchandising, food safety, signing, conditioning, stockroom, fixtures usage and maintenance, labor agreements, quality ordering functions, shrink control, shipping/receiving, salvage, freight receiving/stocking procedures
  • Plan store events
  • Manage/execute planograms and merchandising of department floor
  • Verify implementation of weekly Merchandise Notes, Off-Shelf Merchandising Notes, and Period Planners
  • Schedule completion of price changes
  • Audit scan audits, file maintenance exceptions, department supply orders, and vendor logs
  • Promote and follow Company initiatives
  • Sell products to customers
  • Process mail; maintain department books
  • Monitor overstock/understock conditions
  • Verify completion of daily tours
  • Monitor daily/weekly sales and all financial reports
  • Respond to verbal/written customer comments/complaints/requests
  • Assist with associate scheduling
  • Verify daily/weekly time and attendance functions are completed
  • Manage maintenance/repair needs
  • Complete customer incident and associate incident/accident report forms
  • Maintain salvage procedures
  • Review on-line sales information
  • Manage inventory process
  • Review Intersection Transfer reports
  • All store management work with associates to manage all common associate areas (i.e. break rooms and training areas) to make sure they are inviting in appearance and reflect "Our People Are Great"
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus six months Fred Meyer experience and two-three years related retail experience; or combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Minimum 21 years of age
  • Ability to pass drug test
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work weekends/evenings and work overtime as needed
  • Ability to travel independently on a rare basis
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Accuracy/attention to detail
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks/projects
  • Ability to work within set time frames/fixed deadlines
  • Valid driver's license
  • Fred Meyer lift truck certification/license
  • CPR/first aid certification
  • Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) card
  • Any licenses or certificates required by federal and/or state

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Experience directing and participating on project teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
