Position Summary:

Implement and enforce all safety rules, codes, and requirements. Make sure a safe working environment is provided for all store and office employees and customers. Communicate with all supervisors to identify training needs for mechanics. Set up all training and tracktraining records. Track on-the-job injury and accident records. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Functions:

  • Update and maintain Occupational Safety and Health Administration Log 300.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analysis for all trades in maintenance department.
  • Update and maintain all employee safety training records and accident history.
  • Track statistics on safety accidents and evaluate accidents per 100 FTE.
  • Manage and implement safety awards program.
  • Manage and implement safety training program.
  • Conduct accident investigation, document all safety infractions, and work with division human resources and regional manager.
  • Work with risk management to supervise and adhere to the return-to-work program.
  • Assist general office entities with information on claims and accidents.
  • Develop safety, tools, and accident kits to help technicians become accident free.
  • Develop, execute and maintain personal protection equipment best practices.
  • Maintain personal protection equipment records, issue equipment, and monitor the serviceability of the equipment.
  • Recommend administrative and engineering controls to eliminate or mitigate risk where necessary.
  • Conduct store and facility visits to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration, state entities, and Kroger standards.
  • Conduct Occupational Safety and Health Administration 10- and 30-hour level training.
  • Monitor state and federal changes to Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations and update state addendums to ensure compliance at those levels.
  • Manage online safety training tools and programs.
  • Manage and track vehicle safety and infractions.
  • Manage all background checks and ensure there are up-to-date copies of all vehicle licensing requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency Hazardous Materials guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Agency refrigeration guidelines and procedures.
  • Provide new employee orientation.
  • Provide weekly safety topics to all employees to keep employees current and up-to-date on safety.
  • Keep track of Department of Transporation cards and other certifications required by Kroger or other agencies.
  • Manage, update, and maintain the hearing conservation program.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to work a variety of schedules as required, including nights, weekends and holidays

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration Training InstitueI 511 and 501 qualified
  • Certified safety professional
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or five years related experience
