Assistant Kitchen Manager - Anderson Location

Position Summary:

Assist the Kitchen Manager in managing kitchen operations, including oversight of hourly kitchen staff. Oversee time management for all hourly kitchen staff, including in-times, breaks and out-times. Execute and direct line-checks to ensure the kitchen’s readiness for daily business and manage clean-up to provide proper nightly kitchen closing. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Control the back of house (BOH) and assist with control of food costs through appropriate ordering, maintaining weekly inventory, reviewing financial reports and taking appropriate actions
  • Fill cooking positions to maintain efficient operations of the kitchen
  • Act as a lead expediter during rushes through guidance and mentorship of hourly staff
  • Control and assist with the day-to-day culinary operations of the restaurant within the policies and guidelines set forth by the company
  • Assist with maintaining a professional company image, including kitchen cleanliness, proper uniforms and appearance standards
  • Uphold consistent product and service standards of the highest quality by assisting to manage staffing levels
  • Maintain kitchen organization, cleanliness, and food safety standards in compliance with company and Health Department standards
  • Assist in training of kitchen staff and provide mentorship
  • Manage a safe working environment to reduce the risk of employee or customer injury and accidents
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of hourly staff;
  • Act as Kitchen Manager on duty in the absence of the Kitchen Manager
  • Comply with federal, state, local and company food safety guidelines, food handling procedures and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) rules governing sanitation and the cleanliness/maintenance of kitchen
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift, including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

  • 3+ years of kitchen experience with knowledge of food inventory and ordering
  • Demonstrated confident cooking skills with the ability to take direction and work in a team environment
  • Proven ability to lead a team and communicate effectively
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities; self-motivated, organized and ability to multi-task
  • Proven commitment to quality service and food knowledge
  • Serve Safe Certification must be current or attained within 6 months or less
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of and adherence to licensing and labor laws, health and safety regulations and food handling and hygiene laws
  • Ability to work in a standing position for an entire shift
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop, push and lift objects up to 50 pounds

Desired Previous Job Experience/Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in culinary arts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
