Inventory Control Manager

Position Summary:

Oversee and assist in the execution of the daily processes related to the flow of goods in the Distribution Center (DC) and all inventory control functions. Responsible for all facets of the Warehouse Management System and for insuring all tasks performed by the production team are performed safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire facility in the areas of safety, quality and reliability and our corporate strategy. Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee accuracy of receiving product into the warehouse and resolve receiving discrepancies
  • Work with multiple vendors, including scheduling and customer relations
  • Contact and build relations with category managers and buyers, solve issues and build relationships
  • Ensure proper dating procedures are followed
  • Monitor and oversee warehouse space; monitor planograms and one time buys thru communication with category managers
  • Monitor pack changes, short dates and pick slot changes
  • Manage inbound in advance of product arrival including communicating with buyers/merchandisers as required for all pertinent information related to item for proper facility to arrive slotting
  • Oversee reorganization and continued compliance with DC layout and designation of pick slots and reserves by commodity group or functional area. Maintain discipline within these groupings
  • Work with regional supply chain managers and others on seasonal plan and execution
  • Oversee/monitor adjustments in inventory control and monitor physical inventory of distribution center
  • Monitor distribution center cycle counts
  • Develop and provide instructional classes to end-users for system applications used in Warehouse Management Software
  • Identify, design, and implement technology and procedural based solutions to increase warehouse associates productivity
  • Monitor error logs and system output reports to ensure system performance and data integrity in Warehouse Management System
  • Document and resolve system issues and determine cause and effect items within Warehouse Management System
  • Create data bases and reports to track and trend efficiencies
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • 2 + years of supervisory experience in distribution, warehousing or related field
  • Thorough knowledge of warehouse and department operations and procedures
  • Knowledge of switch and router installation, maintenance and management
  • Ability to speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations
  • Ability to understand complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to write brief reports and log documentation
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Good analytical abilities and solid problem solving skills
  • Ability to travel independently (<10%)

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 + years of experience in distribution, warehousing or related field
