Senior Manager Fleet Services

Position Summary:

Monitor the time and efficient performance of repairs, servicing, maintenance of work, utilization of the equipment and manpower involved. Drive results that achieve planned levels of costs and progress against operational effectiveness of key performance indicators. Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan, organize and supervise major and minor repairs to fleet equipment.
  • Manage all garage operations to ensure on time service of fleet availability.
  • Spec equipment for new purchases or upgrades.
  • Control expense levels for entire Ralphs Fleet.
  • Monitor direct labor schedules to reduce costs and make proposals to adjust workforce.
  • Review work methods to identify cost savings areas.
  • Work closely with Transportation & Warehouse Management to ensure proper service is delivered to their department.
  • Oversee discipline issues, conduct grievance meetings and participate in arbitration process. Also, assist Director of Labor Relation in contractual Union negotiations.
  • Responsible for satisfactory California Highway Patrol B.I.T. (Bi-Annual Inspection Terminal) rating for all garage locations.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Five or more years in Fleet Maintenance field with direct supervision responsibilities of five or more
  • General understanding of driver rules and DMV code as it relates to commercial driver delivery operations.
  • Ability to write effective management and labor schedules.
  • Ability to read, present and understand garage financial plans and reports.
  • A good geographic understanding of city and interstate highway locations and Southern California traffic patterns.
  • Ability to travel independently

Desired Previous Job Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Experience in the retail environment
  • Experience in the unionized environment
