Associate Process Engineer

Position Summary

Support the operational optimization process for an automated distribution center (DC) with a focus on continuous improvement, process engineering and maximizing throughput in collaboration with operations management and automation solutions providers. Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure all projects include risk analysis and contingency planning details to maintain services levels in the event of planned/unplanned interruptions or delays
  • Research, evaluate, justify and recommends capital improvements and upgrades
  • Use formal problem-solving techniques to identify/resolve complex problems
  • Assess risks/issues and make decisions with a sense of urgency
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet requirements for safety, cost, time, quality and throughput expectations
  • Define, specify and communicate expectations for quality and throughput outcomes to operational teams
  • Identify/implement cost reduction improvements for both new and existing equipment/processes
  • Analyze operational processes/equipment, completes root cause analyses and drives procedures to ensure equipment reliability and process stability
  • Establish standardized tools and templates for repeatable and sustainable processes
  • Create a strong influence for action with a demonstrated ability to mine, refine, and utilize complex data
  • Develop metrics and refine systems parameters for operations planning and KPI continuous improvement
  • Compile time study data, inputs time study data, and calculates associate percent performance by individual work element and overall performance
  • Provide process engineering support for an automated distribution center
  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field
  • 3+ years experience in process improvement/operational excellence project roles within the manufacturing and/or distribution sector.
  • Proficient skills and knowledge of lean manufacturing and project management processes
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects/assignments
  • Strong technical background with advanced analytical and investigation skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency and applicable training in statistical problem-solving methodologies and statistical process control
  • Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • 5+ years of Operations experience in automation systems environments
  • Ability to provide leadership and guidance to manager-level associates to achieve corporate goals
  • Six Sigma Green belt certification
  •
