Supervisor, Patient Access - Pharmacy Technician License Required - Great Pay and Benefits!

Position Summary

Perform duties to lead a team engaged in the investigation, verification and tracking of patient insurance eligibility, maintain communications regarding authorization progress, and provide training, support, and technical guidance to associates, working within the limits of standard or accepted practice. Essential Job Functions

  • Conduct comprehensive benefit investigation for new patient referrals; evaluate pharmacy benefit plans and medical benefit plans
  • Obtain clinical, lab, and medical testing documentation from physicians' offices for submission of prior authorization; track prior authorizations through the process until approved
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and other departments on benefits and the status of authorization requests
  • Communicate denials to physicians' offices and provide follow-up details on the peer to peer or appeal options
  • Coordinate with Patient Advocacy to provide patients who express financial hardship; utilize manufacturer co-pay cards as appropriate
  • Identify in-network or mandated pharmacy providers if unable to service a patient due to insurance constraints; communicate related information to the patient and the physician offices and triage referral as directed
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and technical guidance to associates, and assist to resolve difficult cases; train new associates
  • Serve to provide leadership in the absence of the manager as required
  • Suggest and develop documentation to standardized workflow process changes and submit for approval; assist to document authorized process changes to job tools
  • Coordinate, review, and approve timecards and PTO requests
  • Partner with managers to manage floor coverage for optimum patient care experience
  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports

  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Any additional training related to insurance coverages
  • 2+ years of experience in a fast-paced patient service environment with multiple priorities and rapid turnaround
  • Pharmacy Technician License may be required in certain jurisdictions
  • Proven excellence in computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office components
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent leadership capabilities
  • Proven ability to identify gaps and problems from review of documentation, determine lasting solutions, make effective decisions, and take necessary corrective action
  • Proven knowledge and complete utilization of processes, systems and techniques to ensure successful authorization
  • Superior communications skills; active listening, speaking, understanding, and writing English
  • Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification

    Education Level: High School Diploma/ GED Required
