Position Summary:

Plan, direct and manage store operations to achieve projected store sales and profit objectives.  Collaborate with department heads in solving operating opportunities and in improving individual department performance/conditions. Essential Job Functions:

  • Contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive work environment for associates.
  • Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers.
  • Manage the store to achieve/exceed financial goals and to meet/exceed sales, profit, shrink, and labor through effective cost control, efficient utilization of labor, and strong customer service.
  • Establish and maintain a customer-oriented culture and deliver a high level of customer service; anticipate customer needs and resolve issues in a manner that strengthens customer loyalty.
  • Oversee/manage all inventory/vendors; manage in-stock product for all departments; ensure proper in for all shelf and promotional items.
  • Review pre-books for proper stock levels; manage elements and implementation of C.O.R.E. program.
  • Ensure proper preplanning/execution of merchandising programs including implementation/compliance with plan-o-grams.
  • Analyze sales/work content for the total store; develop effective daily/weekly staffing/scheduling of department work plans; meet productivity/operations standards.
  • Maintain accurate store records, including sales, inventory, financial and employee files.
  • Ensure all store associates provide excellent customer service, follow safe food handling and sanitation procedures, perform proper stocking, facing, and pricing, and respond promptly to emergencies/safety hazards.
  • Recruit, hire and onboard new associates; ensure they are trained by formal in-store training programs and on the job.
  • Comply with and reinforce all food safety, sanitation and safety regulations/guidelines/procedures and programs according to company, local, state, and federal regulations; identify/correct unsafe conditions; ensure all company, store and department policies are followed.
  • Maintain effective security standards/procedures for all store areas, including receiving areas.
  • Communicate daily with the general manager regarding the store status (e.g., success, issues and planning).
  • Physical demands include, but are not limited to, regularly standing, sitting, using hands to handle, finger or feel objects, tools or controls; frequently walk, talk, hear, climb stairs, reach with hands or arms; occasionally kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and lift/carry objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED, 5 yrs in supermarket industry and completion of mangement training program, or equvilent combination of education/experience
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment; strong time management skills
  • Sound judgement/problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to create operating budgets/financial forecast

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of store operations and human resource functions
