Associate Assortment Manager, eCommerce

Position Summary:

Oversee the overall product lifecycle & management to support sales and profitability. Support the Digital Category Merchant in achieving sales, units, profit dollars, and growth objectives. Required to stay knowledgeable of industry & consumer trends in the marketplace and provide subject matter expertise to lead the product sourcing process. Participate in cross functional collaboration with inventory and marketing partners to manage the product lifecycle. Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with growing assortment through addition of new products that meet the criteria including: revenue expectations, margin requirements and fulfillment methods and ensuring optimization of these criterion throughout the life of the product
  • Assist with assortment onboarding including vendor and item setup to Kroger eCommerce
  • Support assortment needs through SKU rationalization, balancing new items with items that become irrelevant over time, ensuring the digital shelf always meets our customers’ needs
  • Assist in managing product lifecycle management for a specific set of categories to ensure overall health of the business
  • Assist with margin analysis to ensure accurate costs are recorded in Kroger systems
  • Assist with eCommerce assortment review with brick and mortar category management team
  • Partner with retail insights team to develop pricing strategies to support new business
  • Support product sourcing process by shopping competition, understanding industry trends, reviewing customer requests and vendor new product recommendations
  • Respond to customer service and warehouse issues/requests in an accurate and timely manner
  • Support item content which includes taxonomy, search, image, ingredient panel, romance copy and nutri-facts
  • Manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with promotions, site merchandising, item control, supply chain teams to manage overall health of the category
  • Support special projects as needed

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 4+ years’ experience in one of the following areas: eCommerce, sourcing, replenishment buying/procurement, merchandising
  • Proficient in MS Office, with an emphasis on MS Excel
  • Strong organizational multi-tasking skill and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Exposure to Kroger Category Management System Data Warehouse, Business Objects, 84.51 and Vitacost systems
  • Assistant Category Management experience
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to distill, synthesize and draw conclusions on large amounts of data
