Group Manger, Product Management

Position Summary

Serve as the second level manager and lead a large team of senior product managers, product managers and/or associate product managers within a broad area. This includes driving the strategy for that area, teaching, guiding, setting objectives and key results (OKRs), and ensuring that the OKRs are achieved. Responsible for all our experience products or commerce platform products. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Essential Job Functions

  • Guide multiple product pods to abide by a cross-domain strategy, ensuring that the appropriate balance of team/pod freedom and consistency/compliance to strategy
  • Ensure that multiple product pods execute according to Kroger Technology & Digital priorities
  • Represent Kroger Technology & Digital Product Management in future initiatives to assess conformity to current strategy, breakdown the work, make high-level prioritizations, and assign to various pods or initiatives, and keep senior leaders informed
  • Partner with stakeholders and consumer insights to develop product vision, identify capabilities aligned to company strategy and go-to market plans, communicate and create alignment with stakeholders including company officers and senior management
  • Create highly collaborative working environments partnering with Merchandising, Retail Operations, Key Retailing, Divisions, Marketing, Creative Services, Media Services, 84.51, and Kroger Technology & Digital
  • Model Agile principles to increase speed and frequency of delivery by maintaining and communicating groomed backlog, providing 1-N prioritization for backlog and set criteria for Minimum Viable Product
  • Identify opportunities to create best-in-class capabilities leveraging customer and user feedback, team knowledge and expertise, and connecting to company strengths and resources
  • Develop the plan and deliver breakthrough experiences to market working with technical and non-technical partners; measure, improve and continuously deliver to production
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
  • Travel to different work locations to attend meeting
  • Travel to interview/observe the users and/or customers

  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business, or management or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of eCommerce experience at a retailer with brick and mortar stores is this experience
  • Any experience with iterative product development (Agile)
  • 6+ years of software development or product management experience with demonstrated success delivering new products and experiences to market
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Experience leading and managing a team with direct and indirect reports
  • Demonstrated experience creating and using strategy to solve complex problems
  • Ability to identify metrics and key performance measures and use data to drive decisions which enhance the customer experience
  • Ability to successfully guide, inspire, and delegate
  • Desired Previous Experience/Education

  • Any experience in retail or related field
  • Master's Degree
