These 2 group product managers are critical to building out the Associate Experience team. These leaders will allow for breaking down responsibilities by logical users and products (HR, H&W, Seamless Team Member, Seamless Leader, Seamless Customer Service). These group product managers will lead 4-7 product managers that will primarily be coming from other areas within Kroger (KTD, Business).


Position Summary:

The primary job of a Group Product Manager (GPM) is a second level manager and will lead a large team of Senior Product Managers, Product Managers and/or Associate Product Managers within a broad area. This includes driving the strategy for that area, teaching, guiding, setting objectives and key results (OKRs), and ensuring that the OKRs are achieved. This is particularly the case for strategy across domains. A GPM is responsible for all our experience products or commerce platform products. Essential Job Functions:

  • Guide multiple product pods to abide by a cross-domain strategy, ensuring that the appropriate balance of team/pod freedom and consistency/compliance to strategy
  • Ensure that multiple product pods execute according to Kroger Digital priorities
  • Represent Kroger Digital Product Management in future initiatives to assess conformity to current strategy, breakdown the work, make high-level prioritizations, and assign to various pods or initiatives, and keep senior leaders informed
  • Partner with digital stakeholders and consumer insights to develop online shopping product vision, identify capabilities aligned to company strategy and go-to market plans, communicate and create alignment with stakeholders including company officers and senior management
  • Create highly collaborative working environments partnering with Merchandising, Retail Operations, Key Retailing, Divisions, Marketing, Creative Services, Media Services, 84.51, and Kroger Technology
  • Model Agile principles to increase speed and frequency of delivery by maintaining and communicating groomed backlog, providing 1-N prioritization for backlog and set criteria for Minimum Viable Product
  • Identify opportunities to create best-in-class capabilities leveraging customer feedback, team knowledge and expertise, and connecting to company strengths and resources. Develop the plan and deliver breakthrough experiences to market working with technical and non-technical partners. Measure, improve and continuously deliver to production
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports
  • Travel to different work locations to attend meetings

Minimum Position Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business, or Management or equivalent practical experience
  • 7+ years’ software development or product management experience in a digital business with demonstrated success delivering new products and experiences to market
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and analytical skills
  • Experience leading and managing a team with direct and indirect reports
  • Demonstrated experience creating and using strategy to solve complex problems
  • Ability to identify metrics and key performance measures and use data to drive decisions which enhance the customer experience

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • 3+ years eCommerce experience at a retailer with brick and mortar stores
  • Experience with iterative product development (Agile)
