Manager Maintenance Excellence

Position Summary:

Provide technical and professional leadership to the integrated maintenance process in Kroger Manufacturing to achieve a high level of asset preservation and equipment reliability at a reduced total operating cost.

Perform all jobs safely, efficiently and accurately to maintain and improve the performance of the entire division in the areas of Safety, Quality, Reliability (SQR) and our Customer 1st strategy. Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide engineering counsel and leadership in assisting all manufacturing plants in establishing and refining preventive and predictive maintenance programs, employee training programs, staffing scheduling techniques, efficiency improvement programs, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Communicate with plants and serve as a focal point for defining best in class maintenance and engineering practices and programs.
  • Be involved in selection of maintenance personnel candidates for successor planning.
  • Identify and implement superior, cost-effective maintenance methods to provide equipment reliability/uptime in excess of 98% as measured by the Line Event Data Systems.
  • Continuously improve the usage the CMMS with specific attention to management reports; maintenance performance measures; simplified data entry and reduced maintenance inventory costs.
  • Implement effective maintenance skills assessment methods and ongoing training programs.
  • Maintain and improve upon the maintenance Key element of the Operational Key Element Assessment.
  • Regular attendance to the General Office.
  • Professional Relationship within and outside the Kroger Co.
  • Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF 2000 Systems.
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred).
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel independently.
  • Move objects of up to 40 lbs.
  • Communicate effectively with fellow employees and clients.
  • Assess daily tasks and achieve them in a timely manner.

Desired Previous Job Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in the food industry dealing with: Preventive/Predictive Maintenance Process, Guidance of Maintenance Work Force and Project Work.
  • Exhibit green leadership behaviors.
  • Must have a developed facilitative/coaching style of management and pursue non-directed activities in dealing with plant opportunities.
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Visio.
