Division Retail Operations Manager

Position Summary:

Implement labor strategy and labor functions that are in alignment with the Our Promise Strategy to create a competitive advantage by effectively controlling costs. Manage budgeting, training and the implementation of Enterprise Labor Management Systems (ELMS) and Best Practices for division labor and achieving store expense objectives. Achieve and maintain a high level of shelf price accuracy in the division. Oversee the long-term division execution of the company standards and initiatives to reduce accidents. Responsible for OSHA regulatory compliance/training, and store safety committee initiatives. Develop division goals, strategy/action plans for implementation of company and division asset protection initiatives. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Develop annual budgetary goals and plans to implement for labor, shrink, safety, technology, asset protection and other operating expenses initiatives for the division.
  • Develop annual capital requirements plan for inclusion in the business plan work of the division.
  • Work with each department manager to agree on short-term and long-term objectives, business plans and goals for labor, safety, shrink, asset protection, and technology.
  • Work closely with Merchandising and the stores to improve performance and develop metrics to measure the department’s effectiveness with labor, safety, shrink, asset protection, and technology.
  • Provide input on contractual issues, including language, wage, and benefits that will improve the division’s competitive wage position.
  • Ensure the division implementation of all elements of operations programs/initiatives.
  • Ensure that thorough accident/incident investigations for Workers Compensation (WC) and General Liability (GL) claims are completed as outlined/targeted.
  • Report all accidents/incidents.
  • Monitor and identify accident/incident trends and the development of action plans for improvement.
  • Monitor and ensure the division is complying with the enterprise ORM-D/Hazardous Material and review audit reports.
  • Oversee training, follow-up and ensure store management accountability on division shrink and asset protection objectives.
  • Implement Best Practices to improve work processes.
  • Work collaboratively with division, store and corporate management to implement CAO and maintain standards throughout the division.
  • Develop plans for the deployment of store technologies, measure the effectiveness and provide plans and execution for continued training to maintain proficiency levels.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Store management experience
  • System and software knowledge
  • Ability to establish priorities and to anticipate consumer trends
  • Ability to project and react to business issues
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Store manager, labor manager, or district manager
  • Bachelor’s degree
