District Human Resources Manager

Position Summary:

Primary leadership responsibility is to create a friendly customer experience through exceptional service by highly satisfying each customer’s needs and exceeding their expectations. Support being an Employer of Choice by hiring quality candidates faster, enabling new hires for success and developing leaders at all levels. Interview and train management candidates; evaluate associate performance; reward and coach associates. Be a liaison for associates, cultural councils, managers, district team and division HR in the administration and compliance of HR competencies. Support associate engagement, labor relations, training and development, recruitment, talent management, benefits and compensation administration. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Support career planning and development plans for associates
  • Coordinate the quality and timeliness of performance reviews
  • Identify and monitor training needs ensuring new hires are trained and qualified to perform their duties
  • Remain current on Human Resources policies, practices, and workforce trends
  • Collaborate with district coordinators for the delivery of training curriculum
  • Obtain and maintain certifications to facilitate training in district and division
  • Assist in the recruitment of associates as well as succession planning at all levels
  • Support in the development of retention plans for stores/departments
  • Coordinate staffing needs for new stores and remodels
  • Conduct hiring and exit interviews and champion the hiring, promotion, and retention of all associates
  • Consult with the district manager on placement of management in the district
  • Build relationships with the union agents and serve as a resource for labor questions/issues from the stores
  • Implement and ensure compliance with state, federal and local laws, company policies, business processes, and contract administration
  • Provide information to associates regarding applicable benefit plans
  • Communicate and promote education, scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs
  • Assist and support initial investigation of harassment, discrimination and employment law issues
  • Provide support to management teams regarding Associate Insights
  • Support and be an advocate for cultural councils

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ management experience
  • Strong skills in leadership, interpersonal relationship building and the development of others
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with committees and peer groups
  • Strong analytical, conflict management and problem resolution skills
  • Experience successfully identifying, adopting and leading change initiatives
  • Proven success facilitating meetings varying in size and scope
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and effective listening skills
  • Ability to learn and enhance knowledge and skills in various job related areas
  • Ability to recognize and protect highly confidential information
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to travel independently

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

  • Store Manager (2+ years)
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Division Administration/Total Rewards Manager, Division Associate Skills Development Specialist, District Merchandising Manager, or District Operations Manager
  • Kroger training curriculum facilitation certifications
  • Professional Human Resources certification and/or local HR association membership
