Position Summary

Assess each stores ability to exceed customer expectations for ease of shopping, service, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety and regulatory conditions. Serve as a liaison to department, providing upward feedback on the effectiveness of the merchandising or operational plans/programs as well as local needs and products. Work with store management to identify store opportunities, analyze reports to improve sales, shrink, safety, profit and the customers shopping experience. Demonstrate the companys core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions

  • Instruct and train store associates in the proper use of stores display space and special/seasonal merchandising techniques
  • Follow through on the implementation of enterprise/division store sets that allow for proper allocation, variety and freshness of product
  • Instruct and train store department managers in proper ordering, execution of the sales plan, implementation and development of product mix to support consistent sales, profit, and tonnage growth
  • Ensure that required division methods of handling, receiving, storing, conditioning, pricing, stocking, and rotating merchandise are implemented at store level
  • Ensure implementation and execution of merchandising and operational plans as directed by applicable division department
  • Ensure store compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and with enterprise/division policy; ensure adherence to division standards on applicable commodities and departments
  • Maintain and support all food safety and sanitation best practices
  • Work with store associates in the promotion of safety and shared responsibility for the achievement of a zero-accident safety culture
  • Drive cost effective sales and profitability through a focus on total department contribution within all district stores
  • Maintain awareness of competitive situations and monitor/report significant programs or activities to district management
  • Guide stores in the achievement of shrink goals; apply tools to manage this area
  • Provide feedback to store manager/district manager on strengths and developmental opportunities of associates in Grocery, Drug GM
  • Support store teams in the execution of Pick-Up operational functions and in-stock
  • Train/educate the scan coordinators and file maintenance clerks, including any mandatory training or certification requirements
  • Supervise mandatory scan audits
  • Identify training stores and managers within Districts and evaluate team strengths and opportunities
  • Work with appropriate HR resources and store teams to ensure the effective use of Kroger training programs and assist in the training
  • Provide input concerning promotability/selection of store department managers to district managers and assist in the training for/transition of the new department managers
  • Minimum Position Qualifications

  • Store leadership experience
  • Ability to achieve objectives through others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and peers
