Position Summary:

Maximize patient flow through the clinic under the day-to-day direction of the on-duty nurse practitioner/physician assistant while providing patients with excellent experiences. Perform all appropriate clinical, administrative, and TeleHealth tasks, including electronic medical records (EMR) documentation, in accordance with company policy. Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist in maintaining a “365 day survey-ready” environment as required for maintaining Joint Commission Accreditation
  • Obtain vital signs and enter the data in the EMR in designated clinics with completed competencies
  • Collect patient’s health information and medical history; conduct biometric screenings
  • Relay information between patients and providers
  • Execute medical orders from the nurse practitioner (NP) or physician assistant (PA) for specific treatments
  • Assist the provider in obtaining specimens (e.g., strep, influenza, mono, urinalysis, etc.) within specified protocols; administer immunizations prescribed by the provider
  • Escort patients to the exam room; determine the patient’s chief complaint
  • Consult with providers for questions related to scope of services (i.e. what is in scope or out of scope)
  • Participate/coordinate care utilizing the TeleHealth platform when working in a participating clinic
  • Perform administrative/business development tasks for clinics and other departments
  • Greet customers/potential patients while in the front area or near the clinic and provide them guidance on registration, wait time, services that may be rendered and payment methods
  • Clean/organize the clinic space daily, including, but not limited to, taking out trash, logging/putting away supply orders and cleaning the floor under counters and around furniture
  • Answer questions, following HIPAA guidelines, while in the front area
  • Utilize the patient electronic registration kiosk (PERK) system
  • Determine method of payment; describe payment options to customers (e.g., prompt pay or filing with one of our accepted insurance plans)
  • Copy government issued identification cards for all patients
  • Copy the insurance card if the patient selects for their insurance to be filed
  • Complete the registration process, placing the patient under the respective appointment book for the provider on duty
  • Scan all appropriate documents; alert the provider if they need to complete the scanning
  • Collect payments and log in the EMR
  • Continue to process patients in the waiting area by moving patients back to the waiting area after obtaining vital signs and initial history
  • Answer phones, respond to questions and return calls
  • Participate in offsite events
  • Participate in monthly screening events by preparing supplies for event, registering patients, etc.
  • Prepare weekly order for supplies to be approved by providers
  • Prepare packages/mail for shipping
  • Travel to nearby clinics to assist with day-to-day operations
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Valid licensed practical nurse (LPN) licensure
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new applications
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, and task-management skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team-based environment
  • Basic math skills

Desired Previous Job Experience:

  • Previous retail healthcare experience
